Cruising v. All Inclusive Vacations

Here is where I sit on the fence…. I love to do both and both are cost effective with unlimited enjoyment, but how do you choose who gives you the better bang for your buck? The answer: Do what you feel suits you better… If you are in the mood for island hopping via a cruise… do it!! If you feel like just laying out on a beach and reading a book with a view of the ocean…. Just do it!!

All Inclusive vacations are just fabulous. The first time I visited one I could not believe such a thing existed. I was in complete awe!! It was equivalent to paradise. There is nothing like a vacation paid completely in full before you arrive. That is what you get out of an all inclusive vacation. Everything…. I mean everything is paid in advance. This includes roundtrip flights, resort/hotel, taxes, transfers, food, drinks (alcohol included), tips, and most watersports. Let’s think about this for a second…. If you didn’t want to leave the resort for excursions you can virtually come back home without spending a time while on vacation, because you have paid it all in advance. Gotta love it…..

Okay… so you have vacation time coming up and you can’t decide what to do or where to go. You are thinking of possibly taking a cruise, but can’t decide. Think of it this way….cruising of course is the best way to go if you have a week of vacation and you want to be able to see as much as you can in a week. For example, I went on a cruise that visited 5 different ports in one week. I saw more of the Caribbean islands than I ever had in my life, and it was honestly a great experience. I can’t wait for my next upcoming cruise. I get excited just thinking about it. I just started cruising within the last 2 years, and it quickly turned into addiction. I actually took 3 cruises within 6 months, because I just could not get enough.

Here is one thing to remember. Although, cruises are considered something like all-inclusive, because it includes all of your meals, shows, and some activities onboard keep in mind that there are quite a few out of pocket expenses such as drinks (alcohol), gratuities (which can be expensive), some restaurants, and some activities (ex: bingo). You would also have to consider that most cruises dock first thing in the morning, so your excursions begin bright and early. Let’s not forget that the price of some excursions can be up there. If you book a balcony, you would get the best feeling of waking up first thing in the morning and watching the sunrise from your cabin as you overlook the beautiful scenic ocean. Booking an inside room is cost efficient, but I just can’t do it….. I need to have my balcony, so it’s definitely worth the extra cost. I guess I am just a little spoiled.

If you are like me and have daydreams of being away on some awesome beach just relaxing and sipping on a pretty fruity drink, then an all inclusive vacation is the choice for you. Choose an island and just go…… This experience is also an unforgettable one. Most all inclusive resorts offer a number of restaurants to choose from, such as steakhouses, Hibachi, Mexican, Italian and others. You can eat to your hearts content and all are usually included in your overall price. Tipping is included, so no need to bring your wallet (I usually tip anyway). Nowadays, there are so many adult and couples only resorts in the Caribbean that your peace and tranquility would be endless on a vacation like this. You can drink and be merry and party the night away without the thoughts of children running around your feet while at the beaches or pools. I know this may sound crazy, but when we go away on a vacation like this we rarely leave the resort for excursions or shopping. We just simply relax and enjoy everything and everyone around us. We come home feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. I just love it!!

As you can see I haven’t decided on what is the best vacation to take, but I will say this….. think about what you want to do while you are on vacation. Whether it’s relaxing or island hopping a vacation is exactly what you make it!
