The ride up the mountain top in Saint Ann parish was a little intimidating but we made it there and back safely. It is probably a ride I will never do again in this lifetime.
Once we arrived, we paid our entry fee of $19 per person. We were introduced to our tour guide and the tour began. It was an amazing experience as we walked through this museum with pictures of this epic and legendary icon. They had a local band playing Bob Marley’s music and of course you have to stop and listen. As you walk by don’t forget to leave a tip.
We then stopped by his home and as we approached we were told we had to take our shoes off before entering. It was definitely a humbling and enlightening moment to stand in his cozy 2 room home. His kitchen was outside, not too far from his meditation rock, which if you are a true Marley fan you would understand.
Bob Marley’s Bedroom
The view of Mt. Zion from here is absolutely amazing.
We then visited the mausoleum of his mother and we were told her story as well. Once again, no shoes allowed. We were also told we could not take pictures or video while within the mausoleum, but we could smoke weed if it was our desire.
Right across the way was Bob Marley’s mausoleum that he shares with his brother. The same rules apply as above. Stepping into his mausoleum and learning even more about this legend was positively inspiring to me.
His grandparents are also buried on this estate as well.
After the tour we went through the gift shop, but didn’t buy anything. Everything was marked up a little high, as well as the bar.
Our tour guide was excellent, however, we didn’t get to experience the marijuana tea everyone was talking about….. I guess we didn’t ask the right people about it.
All in all, the tour was great. It wasn’t a long tour, but I definitely left this experience feeling humbled and educated about the awesome Bob Marley.
