Travel Without Paying a Fortune

If you are a college student, you are more than likely already struggling. Between working part-time job, attending classes, completing coursework, and taking finals, you may find it difficult to ever catch a break. If you’re interested in taking a nice break, traveling is always a good idea. Traveling gives you a chance to explore, relax, and enjoy yourself and new surroundings. Even if you are on a budget, you can still travel without spending a fortune or burning a hole in your pocket.

Staying On Top Of Your Finances

You have to stay on top of your finances to afford to travel; this is very important because if you do not, you’ll be stressed and what’s the point of being stressed on vacation? Of course, there are plenty of ways for you to finance a trip. If you do work while you are in college, you can always set aside some money to help pay for your travel expenses. You can also ask your parents or other family members to help contribute to your travel fund. In most instances, a family would be willing to offer some money so that you could enjoy your life as a college student traveling abroad. After doing some research, I found that I was able to apply for a credit card that would allow me to pay for the major expenses (planes and trains) without having money up front. However, you should only use your credit card for travel if the interest rate is low so you do not end up paying more in the long run.

Carry a Backpack for Your Trip

Forget about a suitcase. Why carry something around that is bulky and takes up extra space? Instead, you can save time, energy, and much of a hassle by traveling with your backpack instead. You should not use just any old backpack. There are backpacks made specifically for people who want to travel around the world. These backpacks often feature important compartments that you can use to store food, water, and your identification. The best thing about a backpack is that it is completely lightweight. You can carry it with your on an airplane, train, or anywhere else. Having a pack that is small enough to fit in airplane compartments is great because you can use it as a carry on and not pay to ship it through.

Bring Your Basics

You do not have to pack extravagant clothing and unnecessary accessories for your trip. Carrying around useless junk is only going to waste the space you have in your backpack. Keep your stuff organized and only bring the basics. You will need some clothing, deodorant, toothpaste, and other hygiene products to keep clean. You will also need to carry around your forms of identification, such as a birth certificate, passport, or student ID. Remember a money belt to keep your identification and cash safe.
